Con el tiempo se supuso que estos fueron entregados por los tres reyes magos del oriente, los cuales no son mencionados como tal en la biblia, sin embargo hoy en día son conocidos como Melchor, Gaspar y Baltazar.

The idea of placing a message inside a bottle and letting it drift into the ocean until it reaches a destination where your message can be read has been out there for thousands of years. In the past people have used this method when they have found themselves stranded and looking for a way to reach out to civilization, or with the purpose of having their message heard in a near future after they are gone. For example, a ship with soldiers, which was hit in World War I, was sinking and the soldiers sent out message bottles stating their location and situation with the hope of being saved from drowning. / La idea de colocar un mensaje dentro de una botella y dejarla a la deriva en el mar hasta que llegue a un destino donde se pueda leer su mensaje ha estado presente durante miles de años. En el pasado, las personas usaban este método cuando se encontraban varadas y buscando una forma de llegar a la civilización, o con el propósito de que su mensaje se escuchara en un futuro cercano después de que se fueran. Por ejemplo, un barco con soldados, que fue golpeado en la Primera Guerra Mundial, se estaba hundiendo y los soldados enviaron botellas con mensajes indicando su ubicación y situación con la esperanza de ser salvados antes de ahogarse.

Christmas trees have been a tradition that dates back to Roman times, green leaves were used to decorate homes during winter time as a form of representing life amid the dark cold winter nights. In the nineteenth century Christianity adopted the Christmas tree as symbolism of life. They started decorating the trees with candles and apples, candles symbolized the light of Christ and the apples symbolized the knowledge of man’s original sin, according to Christian belief. Placing both ornaments in the Christmas tree represented the light of Christ absolving the fall of men within the inmortal symbol of the Christmas tree.  / Los árboles de Navidad han sido una tradición que se remonta a la época romana, las hojas verdes se utilizaron para decorar las casas durante el invierno como una forma de representar la vida en medio de las oscuras y frías noches de invierno. En el siglo XIX, el cristianismo adoptó el árbol de Navidad como simbolismo de vida. Comenzaron a decorar los árboles con velas y manzanas, las velas simbolizaban la luz de Cristo y las manzanas simbolizaban el conocimiento del pecado original del hombre, según la creencia cristiana. Colocar ambos adornos en el árbol de Navidad representaba la luz de Cristo que absolvía la caída de los hombres dentro del símbolo inmortal del árbol de Navidad.

Around the 19th Century a man known as St. Nicholas would hand over gifts to small children, this person became know as Santa Claus. Santa Claus is portrayed as a white bearded man who wears a long red coat, white cuffed red trousers, a black leather belt and black boots. As he became a legend his real story got modified, and he is now believed to live in the North Pole along with magical elves and 8 flying reindeer. Santa Claus’s sleigh is pulled by 8 flying reindeer which help him get to every children’s household around the world in Christmas night and deliver them a present. / Alrededor del siglo XIX un hombre que era conocido como San Nicolás le daba regalos a los niños pequeños, esta persona fue conocida como Santa Claus (Papá Noel). Papá Noel es retratado como un hombre con barba blanca que usa un largo abrigo rojo, pantalones rojos con puños blancos, un cinturón de cuero negro y botas negras. A medida que se convirtió en una leyenda su historia real se fue modificando y ahora se cree que vive en el Polo Norte junto con elfos mágicos y 8 renos voladores. El trineo de Papá Noel es tirado por 8 renos voladores que lo ayudan a llegar a la casa de todos los niños del mundo en la noche de Navidad y les entregan un regalo.

Placing a star on a Christmas tree is a tradition for many of us, just like placing ornaments and string lights, but have you ever wondered what the star represents? The star is also known as the “Star of Bethlehem” giving reference to the star that guided the three wise men to Jesus’s  birthplace in Nazareth. How to make a piñata ornament? /¿Cómo hacer una piñata de adorno?

A piñata is a typical and traditional element to celebrate Mexican festivities. Originally piñatas were made out of clay, then they were covered with tissue paper of various colors and filled with typical fruits of the season, candies, among other things. These were destroyed with a stick while being blindfolded. The idea was to take all the contents of the piñata as soon as they fell and to enjoy the “prize”. Now a days, modern piñatas are made out of newspapers and tissue paper, however they are still an essential part of Mexican celebrations. / Una piñata es un elemento típico y tradicional para celebrar los festejos mexicanos. Originalmente las piñatas estaban hechas de barro, después eran cubiertas con papel de china de una variedad de colores y rellenas de frutas típicas de la temporada, dulces y otras cosas. Estas se destruían con un palo mientras tenias vendados los ojos. La idea era llevarse todo el contenido de la piñata en cuanto este cayera y disfrutar del “premio”. Actualmente las piñatas modernas se hacen con periódico y papel de china, sin embargo siguen siendo parte esencial de los festejos mexicanos.
