Make pom pom Christmas trees / Haz árboles de navidad de pompones

Christmas trees have been a tradition that dates back to Roman times, green leaves were used to decorate homes during winter time as a form of representing life amid the dark cold winter nights. In the nineteenth century Christianity adopted the Christmas tree as symbolism of life. They started decorating the trees with candles and apples, candles symbolized the light of Christ and the apples symbolized the knowledge of man’s original sin, according to Christian belief. Placing both ornaments in the Christmas tree represented the light of Christ absolving the fall of men within the inmortal symbol of the Christmas tree.  / Los árboles de Navidad han sido una tradición que se remonta a la época romana, las hojas verdes se utilizaron para decorar las casas durante el invierno como una forma de representar la vida en medio de las oscuras y frías noches de invierno. En el siglo XIX, el cristianismo adoptó el árbol de Navidad como simbolismo de vida. Comenzaron a decorar los árboles con velas y manzanas, las velas simbolizaban la luz de Cristo y las manzanas simbolizaban el conocimiento del pecado original del hombre, según la creencia cristiana. Colocar ambos adornos en el árbol de Navidad representaba la luz de Cristo que absolvía la caída de los hombres dentro del símbolo inmortal del árbol de Navidad.

As the years have passed the typical green tree has been updated, now we can find plastic pine trees or even the shape of a pine tree made out of wood, pine trees in pots for those who seek to protect the environment and pine trees of different colors such as white, pink and even black. However, the tradition of decorating and putting them in December still stands. / Conforme han pasado los años el típico árbol verde se fue actualizando, ahora podemos encontrar pinos de plástico o hasta la forma del pino hecho con madera, pinos en macetas para aquellos que procuran cuidar el medio ambiente y pinos de distintos colores tal como blancos, rosa y hasta negros. Sin embargo, la tradición de adornarlos y ponerlos en diciembre sigue en pie. 

On this post I will show you how to make a beautifully colored pom pom Christmas tree. It is such an easy craft, and best of all it looks as an amazing Christmas ornament with a modern touch. / En esta entrada te mostraré cómo hacer un hermoso árbol de Navidad de pompones de colores. Es una manualidad fácil y lo mejor de todo es que se ve como un increíble adorno navideño con un toque moderno.

Materials needed / Materiales necesarios:

• Different colored Pom Poms / Pompones de diferentes colores
• Styrofoam cone / Cono de unicel
• Silicone / Silicón

Steps / Pasos:

1. We are going to start pasting pom poms from the bottom to the top of our styrofoam cone. Place enough silicone around the cone so that you can paste rows of pom poms. I recommend that everytime you finish a row you squeeze it together with both hands so that it holds better to your cone and then you can start the next row. Remember that you can be as creative as you want, use as many colors of pom poms as you’d like or stick to a certain design in order to make your tree stand out! / Vamos a comenzar a pegar pompones desde la parte inferior hasta la parte superior de nuestro cono de unicel. Coloca suficiente silicón alrededor del cono para poder pegar hileras de pompones. Recomiendo que cada vez que termines una fila la juntes con ambas manos para que se adhiera mejor a tu cono y luego comiences la siguiente fila. Recuerda que puedes ser tan creativo como quieras, usa cuanta variedad de pompones de colores como quieras o haz un diseño en especifico para que tu árbol quede impresionante.

Here’s another tip, when you are done pasting all the pom poms let them dry. Afterwards you may find some blank spaces still in between your pom poms and you can fill them in with more pom poms to make sure that these are covered up. / Aquí hay otro consejo, cuando hayas terminado de pegar todos los pompones déjalos secar. Después puedes encontrar algunos espacios en blanco aún entre tus pompones, estos los puedes llenar con más pompones para asegurarte de que queden cubiertos.
