How to Make a Cork board? / ¿Cómo hacer un pizarrón de corchos?

If you, or your family, love drinking wine and have friends come over from time to time then you might find yourself disposing corks of all the wine bottles you get to enjoy. On a previous post I shared a tutorial on How to make a cork keychain? / ¿Cómo hacer un llavero de corcho?, this is a natural and recyclable material that can be used for many crafts. So if you do happen to usually just dispose corks, why not start collecting them and make this amazing craft I have prepared for you? A cork board. / Si a tí, o tu familia, les encanta tomar vino, o incluso tienen amigos que vienen de vez en cuando entonces lo mas probable es que se encuentren desechando los corchos de todas las botellas de vino que hayan consumido. En una publicación previa compartí un tutorial sobre How to make a cork keychain? / ¿Cómo hacer un llavero de corcho?, este es un material natural y reciclable que puede ser utilizado para muchas manualidades. Entonces si por lo general simplemente te deshaces de los corchos ¿por qué no comenzar a recolectarlos y hacer esta increíble manualidad que les he preparado?  Un pizarrón de corchos.

Cork boards are perfect for organizing your ideas and thoughts in one place. We usually pin our to-do-lists, our appointments, grocery lists, emergency phone numbers and other reminders we might just need. These are usually placed at work or at home and are really handy. / Los pizarrones de corcho son perfectos para organizar tus ideas y pensamientos en un solo lugar. Por lo general fijamos nuestras listas de tareas, nuestras citas, listas de compras, números telefónicos de emergencia y otros recordatorios que podríamos necesitar. Por lo general se colocan en el trabajo o en el hogar y son realmente útiles.

What materials do you need? / ¿Qué materiales necesitas?

• Many corks / Muchos corchos
• Silicone / Silicón 
• A circular base that’s similar to a tray / Una base circular parecido a una charola
• Rope / Cuerda

Steps / Pasos:

1. This project is so easy that you are going to love it, it just takes patience and a little bit of time. The first step will be to start placing silicone on the bottom of each cork and placing it on the tray. You have to start from the edge to the center of our tray in a spiral manner. Put some silicone also on the tray before putting each cork down just to make sure it has enough and it will stick. / Este proyecto es tan fácil que te va a encantar, solo se necesita paciencia y un poco de tiempo. El primer paso será comenzar a colocarle silicón a la base de cada corcho y colocarla en la bandeja. Debes comenzar desde el borde hasta el centro de nuestra bandeja de forma espiral. Coloca un poco de silicón en la bandeja antes de colocar cada corcho para asegurar que sea suficiente y se pegue bien.

Another recommendation is to put a bit of silicone on the sides of the corks when placing one next to each other this way it will hold better and in place. / Otra recomendación es poner un poco de silicón en los costados de los corchos al colocar uno al lado del otro, de esta manera se sostendrá mejor y los mantendrá en su lugar.

In my case, I played with the corks design. Placing most of the corks on the tray using the red end (this end is red, because it is the part of the cork that covers the wine) and making two circle shapes on the board with the opposite end that look like a white color. This gave the board a different look, then I gave it a couple hours allowing it to dry. / En mi caso, jugue con el diseño de los corchos. Coloque la mayoría de los corchos usando la esquina roja hacia afuera (la esquina roja se da debido a que es la parte que tapa el vino) e hice dos formas de círculos en el tablero con la esquina opuesta que se ve blanca para darle forma. Después lo deje secar por un par de horas. 

2. Now we can take our rope and stick it around our cork board. The measurement of the rope depends on how long we want it, but in my case I turned the board twice and left some extra rope at the end to ensure that I could hang it afterwards. Place silicone around the contour of the tray where the rope will be set to hold. At the end, tie the rope with a knot and cover parts with silicone to ensure that it remains tight. Let it dry for a few minutes and you’re done!/ Ahora podemos tomar nuestra cuerda y pegarla alrededor de nuestro pizarrón de corcho. La medida la cuerda depende de cada quien, pero en mi caso le di dos vueltas al pizarrón y deje un poco de cuerda extra al final para asegurar que se pudiera colgar. Después coloque silicón alrededor del contorno por donde pase la cuerda. Al final amarre la cuerda con un nudo el cual cubre en partes con un poco de silicón para asegurar que se mantuviera. ¡Lo dejas secar unos minutos y listo haz terminado!
