Make a kids fox hair clip / Haz un gancho de zorro para niña

It is that time of the year when children return to school. If you have children you have to buy all their school supplies, uniforms, shoes, etc. It ends up becoming a fairly high expense, and additional to this if we have daughters we need accessories to comb them and make them look presentable. These accessories usually have a high price too and sometimes we do not find ones that we like. / Es esa época del año cuando los niños regresan al colegio. Si tienes hijos tienes que comprar todos sus materiales escolares, uniformes, zapatos, etc. Se acaba convirtiendo en un gasto bastante elevado y adicional a esto, si tenemos hijas necesitamos accesorios para peinarlas y que vayan presentables. Estos accesorios también suelen tener un precio elevado y a veces no encontramos unos que nos gusten. 

I remember from my childhood that as girls we liked to stand out for having different accessories. In the end wearing typical accessories that were dull was not fun. In this post we will learn how to make your own hair clips, it is a craft that takes about 5 minutes. So simple you’ll never go back to buying them again. / Yo recuerdo de mi infancia que como niñas nos gustaba destacar por tener accesorios distintos. Al final llevar accesorios típicos y sin chiste no estaba padre. En este post vamos a aprender a hacer como hacer tus propios ganchos para el pelo, es una manualidad que te toma unos 5 minutos. Tan sencillo que nunca volverás a comprarlos nuevamente. 

Materials needed / Materiales necesarios:

• A piece of black felt / Un pedazo de fieltro negro
• A piece of white felt / Un pedazo de fieltro blanco
• A piece of orange felt / Un pedazo de fieltro naranja
• White and black thread / Hilo blanco y negro
• Hair clip / Gancho para el pelo

Steps / Pasos:

1.  Start by cutting a small square of orange felter, we are going to fold it in half. Paint with a marker on the folded side a light outline of half the face of the fox. / Comience cortando un pequeño cuadrado de fieltro naranja, lo vamos a doblar por la mitad. Pinte con un marcador en el lado doblado un contorno ligero de la mitad de la cara del zorro.

2. Following the outline cut out the figure (do not cut the folded side, just the outline). Once we are done cutting, unfold the piece and now you have the face of a fox. / Siguiendo el contorno, corte la figura (no corte el lado doblado, solo el contorno). Una vez que hayamos terminado de cortar, despliegue la pieza y ahora tienes la cara de un zorro.

3. To make the shape of the eyes we are going to take a piece of white felter. Fold the piece in half and draw what seems half a heart by the folded side. Just like we did at the start, cut the piece by the outline. The size of the piece has to go accordingly to size of the face, so if you feel it is too big you can make it smaller. / Para hacer la forma de los ojos vamos a tomar un trozo de fieltro blanco. Dobla la pieza por la mitad y dibuja lo que parece medio corazón por el lado del doblez. Al igual que hicimos al principio, corta la pieza por el contorno. El tamaño de la pieza debe coincidir con el tamaño de la cara, por lo que si sientes que es demasiado grande puedes hacerlo más pequeño.

4. Unfold the piece and cut the heart with a straight line through the middle. Place this pieces on top of the face to plan at what distance we are going to sew them. The white pieces have to go with the bottom piece of the heart placed together and both tops open, as if it were a broken heart. With the white thread we are going to sew the pieces to the face of the fox. / Desdobla la pieza y corta el corazón con una línea recta a través del medio. Coloca estas piezas en la parte superior de la cara para planificar a qué distancia las vamos a coser. Las piezas blancas tienen que ir con la parte inferior del corazón colocada juntas y ambas partes superiores abiertas, como si fuera un corazón roto. Con el hilo blanco vamos a coser las piezas a la cara del zorro.

 

5. Make two small triangles with the white felter for the ears, then with the white thread sew them to the face of the fox. / Haz dos triángulos pequeños con el fieltro blanco para las orejas, luego con el hilo blanco cóselos a la cara del zorro.

6. Now we are going to make two small circles with the black felter for the eyes, a circle a bit bigger for the nose and a kind of heart shape for the forehead. Place the eye circles inside the white felter and sew them together. Then the nose should go where both white felter pieces meet at the bottom, sew it there. And finally, the last black piece should go in the forehead. / Ahora vamos a hacer dos círculos pequeños con el fieltro negro para los ojos, un círculo un poco más grande para la nariz y una especie de forma de corazón para la frente. Coloca los círculos de los ojos dentro del fieltro blanco y coselos juntos. Luego, la nariz debe ir donde las dos piezas blancas de fieltro se unen en la parte inferior, cosela ahí. Y finalmente, la última pieza negra debe ir en la frente.

7. Taking our clip place some silicone on the top and then place at the bottom of our fox. Press and leave it until it dries. / Tomando nuestro clip, coloca un poco de silicón en la parte superior y luego coloca en la parte inferior de nuestro zorro. Presiona y dejalo hasta que se seque.
