Hexagonal wall painting tutorial/ Tutorial pintar pared hexágonos

Thinking of giving your house or a special room a new look? I was looking for a way to bring more light to my grandmothers kitchen, so I decided to make a colorful hexagonal design by painting on the kitchen wall. If you like it you should give it a try, it was really simple to do and I think it accomplished my goal. / ¿Estas pensando en darle un nuevo look a tu casa o algún cuarto en específico? Estuve buscando la forma de traer un poco más de luz a la cocina de mi abuelita y se me ocurrió pintar un diseño colorido con hexágonos. Si les gusta, fue muy sencillo de hacer y creo que realmente se cumplió el objetivo.

Materials / Materiales:

• Vynil paint (I bought white colored paint, and 3 colored bottles to make each color therefore saving some money in the process. The colors I used were: red, blue and yellow. You can also buy the colors you want already made) / Pintura de vinyl (en realidad compre una pintura blanca y 3 botes de color para crear cada color, ahorrando un poco de dinero en el proceso. Los colores que compre fueron: rojo, azul y amarillo, pero también puedes comprar los colores que quieres ya hechos.)

• A hexagonal shape (I bought a box with the shape of a hexagon and used the lid as a guide) / La forma de un hexágono (yo compre una caja con la forma de un hexágono y utilice la tapa como guía).

• Blue tape / Cinta adhesiva azul

• Brush / Brocha

• Tray / Bandeja

Steps / Pasos:

1. Let’s start by cutting pieces of tape that are the size of our hexagon. Put the hexagon on the wall and outline it with the pieces of tape in order to create the shape. / Vamos a comenzar cortando pedazos de cinta adhesiva que sean del tamaño de nuestro hexágono. Pon el hexágono en la pared y delinea la forma con los pedazos de cinta adhesiva para crear la forma.

2. Repeat step one by making the design you wish to have on your wall again. / Repite el paso uno formando el diseño que gustes en la pared. 

3. Once you have your design you can start painting the hexagons on the wall, as long as you paint inside the tape or over the tape then you will have no problem. / Una vez que tengas el diseño, puedes comenzar a pintar los hexágonos, siempre y cuando pintes dentro de la cinta o sobre la cinta no tendrás problemas.

4. We have to let it dry and during the process paint over more than once each color. In my case I painted over them twice. Once it dries we can carefully remove the tape and our colorful hexagons will be complete.  / Tienen que dejarlo secar y quizá en el proceso darle dos o tres pasadas de pintura a cada color. En mi caso fueron dos pasadas. Ya que se seque podemos retirar con cuidado nuestra cinta adhesiva y nuestros hexágonos habrán quedado listos.
