Macrame is the art of weaving and twisting threads with the hands by means of knots. Currently this trend is growing in popularity. In this tutorial we´ll learn how to make a plant hanger. What better than decorating your home with plants? They are perfect for your garden, kitchen and even living room. / El macrame es el arte de tejer y enredar hilos con las manos por medio de nudos. Actualmente crece en popularidad esta tendencia. En este tutorial vamos a aprender a hacer una suspensión para tus plantas. ¿Qué mejor que decorar tu hogar con plantas? quedan perfecto en tu jardín, cocina e incluso sala.
What materials do you need? / Qué materiales necesitas?
- Cord of your liking / Hilo de tu gusto
- Scissors / Tijeras
- Ruler / Regla
- Metal keyring / Anillo de metal
Steps / Pasos:
1. Cut 4 cords 100cm long / Corta 4 hilos de 100cm de largo
2. Pass the cords through the metal ring until they are divided in half / Pasa los hilos a través del anillo de metal hasta que estén divididos a la mitad.
3. Take a 20cm long cord, place it in front of our other cords and make a loop facing down. Leave a small piece of cord on the top. Then take the rest of the cord and wrap it around the strings. Once you are finishing the cord, pass it through the loop twice and pull the cord to tighten the knot. / Toma una cuerda de 20 cm de largo, colócala delante de las otras cuerdas y haz un bucle hacia abajo. Deja un pequeño trozo de hilo en la parte superior. Luego, toma el resto del hilo y enróllalo alrededor de las cuerdas. Ya que se te este terminando el hilo, lo pasas a través del bucle dos veces y jalas del hilo para apretar el nudo.
4. Pull from the top cord, this way the knot we did on the step before will be pulled up and tightened. / Tíra de la cuerda superior, de esta manera el nudo que hicimos en el paso anterior se jalara hacia arriba y se apretará.
5. Separate the cords in pairs, in such a way that you can see them in a simple way. Make a simple knot in each pair, start the knots at the height you’re going to want to start hanging your plant. / Separa los hilos en pares, de tal forma que lo puedas ver de manera sencilla. Vamos a hacer un simple nudo en cada pareja, empieza los nudos a la altura que vayas a querer que empiece a colgar tu planta.
6. Now starting from left to right, let’s take the cord on the right and attach it to the left cord of the couple on one side. Repeat with all the cords. / Ahora empezando de izquierda a derecha, vamos a tomar el hilo de la derecha y unirla al hilo izquierdo de la pareja de un lado. Y así sucesivamente.
7. Taking the cord at the left and the one at the right (which are the ones with out a pair now), we are going to pair them together with a knot. / Tomando el hilo a la izquierda y la de la derecha (que son las que ahora no tienen un par), y únelos con un nudo.
8. Grab all the cords at the bottom and make a knot. / Toma todas las cuerdas de abajo y júntalas en un nudo.
9. Place your pot in the middle of the knots and hang it! / ¡Coloca tu maceta en medio de los nudos y cuélgala!
